Steven B. Abramson, M.D. came to NYU and Bellevue as a resident in 1974, and has been a dedicated member of the Department of Medicine ever since. Dr. Abramson served as Chief Resident and Firm Chief under then Chairman Saul J. Farber, eventually becoming the Director of the Division of Rheumatology, and in 2013 the Chairman of the Department of Medicine. From 2006-2025 Dr. Abramson also served as Vice Dean and Chief Academic Officer of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Abramson has been widely recognized for his scholarship, research, and administrative acumen. Dr. Abramson has always had a passion for encouraging the development of physician-scientists and educators, and he has guided residents, fellows, and junior faculty into leadership roles, mentoring the next generation of doctors. The Association is proud to have Dr. Abramson as a Board Member and to honor Dr. Abramson for his distinguished career, his dedication to medical education and his devotion to Bellevue Hospital.
