The Prevention and Education Partnership (PEP)

Dedicated to transforming the current model of drug education.

PEP believes it can become the most trusted source of accurate and relevant drug education for students, parents, and school systems across the United States by getting doctors into classrooms with students and delivering an evidence-informed, teen-approved, harm-reducing drug education curriculum.

The Prevention Education Partnership (PEP) is a program run by the Department of Emergency Medicine at Bellevue which sends healthcare professionals out into the public schools in New York City to engage students in authentic and informed information about the dangers of substance abuse.

Since 2015, PEP has become a trusted community resource for reliable, evidence-based health information. With support from the Bellevue Association, PEP has deployed 600+ healthcare professionals (including emergency doctors, pediatricians, medical students, and nurses) into schools, engaging 10,000+ adolescents in conversation.

PEP Talks

PEP trains and mobilizes doctors, trainees, and other medical professionals to deliver PEP Talks, a innovative drug education curriculum for middle school and high school students.

PEP Talks engage medical professionals in conversations with teens about the risks of legal substances, such as alcohol, nicotine, and prescription opioids; and illicit substances, such as marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids, amphetamines, and heroin.
